Custom Car Tips - Customize Your Car!

Where to start: custom car accessories

When it comes to customizing your car, using accessories can be both one of the easiest and one of the most involved ways of doing it. Easy in that by adding a few decals or new rims you can have a new look in a few hours; involved in that there is such an extensive range of accessories that you can emerge with a totally new car if you take it far enough. Custom car accessories are one part of car customization that can prove an easy start to the world of custom cars.

Car accessories fall into seven categories:
- Performance: these are components like air filters, springs and exhaust systems that affect the performance of your vehicle, though often the only improvement is cosmetic.
- Exterior: while some of these things can also affect your vehicle’s performance, additions like sports hoods, pocket fenders and roof scoops are mainly added for looks rather than action
- Engine dress up: this usually involves replacing factory standard pieces with a more attractive option. This includes things like battery tie downs, oil and radiator caps. Often these are branded or colour co-ordinated to the car’s bodywork.
- Wheels: this can include custom rims and spinning rims
- Interior: this can cover from the obvious options like seat covers and floor mats covers to racing pedals and custom gauges.
-Tyres: this is one section of custom accessories where safety and performance should come before appearance. However, there are some tyres out there that look good while providing great performance.
- Lighting: includes both differing styles of front and tail lights as well as neon lighting kits for door strips or even lighting up the complete under body of the car for a very dramatic effect.

Many auto-stores will stock a range of car accessories, but you may be required to contact special custom accessory supplies if you are looking for that extra something. When buying accessories, always remember that it is not worth sacrificing safety for appearance.
